...Lynch-Bages is a fifth growth of Pauillac in the Medoc, but the quality of wine it produces is on par with many 2nd growths. Typically ver tannic, long lived wine. 1998 an ok vintage in the Medoc, it was much better in the right bank (St.Emilion and Pomerol), but Lynch-Bages from even a so-so vintage should be quite good, and '98 is better than so-so. Monetary value? Maybe $50-60 depending on the retailer. All in all, a nice gesture. Try it with grilled strip steaks or rack of lamb.
