...last night my wine group tasted cabernets - 7 wines and 7 tasters - some were recent releases and some from their cellars.
We poured them through a Venturi into a decanter and then back into the bottles. Even then they continued to change and improve over the next hour.
All of them were pretty good so it was difficult to chose between them and why there was no clear consensus in the scoring - we rated our favorite as #1 and least favorite as #7. If everyone had agreed on a #1 it would have had 7 points, agreement on a #7 would have been 49pts.
7. 2008 Rafanelli Sonoma $45 - 36pts
6. 2009 Rombauer Napa $36 - 34pts
5. 2006 Heitz Napa $36 - 31pts
4. 2008 Reynolds Napa $45 - 30pts
3. 2010 'C' Napa $20 - 24pts (claimed to be Pine Ridge from Trader Joe's)
2. 2010 Peju 2010 $49 - 22pts
1. 2007 Pride Napa/Sonoma $45 - 19pts
The top 3 had a significant drop in points but probably only the Peju is still available.
