That name rang a bell so I went back thru some past orders from a vendor in CA that we sometimes order from, JJBuckley. We bought the 2006 in July 2008 (2006 Columbia Crest Horse Heaven Hills Chardonnay H3 Chardonnay White 750ml WS91 -$10.99).
As I recall, it tasted better to me when quite cold in temp as opposed to closer to cellar temp which varies here from 53 in the winter to 65 in the summer months. The reason I even mention cellar temp is that some unoaked chardonnay's I prefer closer to cellar temp (in the winter at least) and not thrown into the fridge or ice-collar for chill down. Not so with the Columbia, it seemed most appealing when served a little dumb just because it was such a mouthful.
It was quite a good wine and if it's now competing with the likes of Rombauer, then once again great things have to be said about Columbia Crest wines and their methods!
Mike
