OK, has anyone else noticed the similarities between mics and lenses? In particular I'm talking about "perspective". Wide field mics and lenses make the background recede away from you and whatever space there is in a room is exaggerated. A shotgun mic or telephoto lens seems to compress space considerably while eliminating things off to either side. I haven't done much recording, but I couldn't help but use similar photo techniques for mic selection and coverage. This leads to some other interesting comparisons... Do mics have "bokeh"?
Follow Ups:
You are right and add to that the similarity in the clarity/resolution. A leica or zeiss lens will sound like a Neuman or a Rode and a Nikon will sound like a Audio Technica. You get the idea. Leica lenses have the qualities of the very best mics and mic preamps. The rest are playing catchup.

It is amazing how there are subtle, but I'd argue important differences in recording gear both light and sound. Well, they're important to the connisours (geeks?) at least...
