For the price of this new camera, you have to start thinking about priorities. If you spent $5,000.00 on your audio system, just for entertainment value, you probably wouldn't think anything about it. But a camera???, -seems awfully expensive. Rationalizing, he claimes, to be a professional photographer, you've got to have the best equipment available. Since he does a lot of wedding photos, he claimes that the new Hasselblad has the best auto-focus available in a medium format camera, which is what he needs.
Hmmmmmm....I wonder if he will let me touch it.

But I don't shoot people. How does the 'Blad autofocus compare to the Pentax 645 N II?

It didn't convince me to trade off my old used Hassy 500 C/M either. The autofocus seemed real fast, infact he thought it had the fastest of the autofacus in medium format cameras.
Actully I do studio work and I don't even trust my eyes well enough to use the focusing screen on the camera as it is. I always use a tape measure. But his situation is different.
The funny thing is the last time I talked with him he was complaining that it had a 'glitch' in it and was going to talk with the Hassy rep. who was going to be at the store that weekend.
Then he goes on a tirade on who bad digital cameras are. Funny though, at the same time he had a NEW Canon EOS 10D SLR digital around his neck. I'm beginning to wonder about him. He must be doing really well with weddings.
He called me up and asked if I could solder the ends on some new speaker cable he bought. So, I told him only if he brought his new 645 along so I could look at it. So we both spent some time playing with it. It was new to him so he wanted to take as many rolls as possible just to get familiar with it. I couldn't believe how solid it felt. I still prefer the square format though, and I wonder why they are using Fuji lens instead of the Zeiss. And, why the little pop-up flash just like a little point-and-shoot or a little digital camera??? But, the auto-focus seemed to be extreamly fast, and since most of his photo-work is spontanious and unposed, I guess this is what he felt he had to have.
