The Panasonic Lumax LC1 is the identical camera as the Leica Digilux 2. The only difference physically is body cosmetics and will go for almost $1600.00. So you are paying $250 extra for a red dot and a Leica name.
Follow Ups:
1. The camera does not have a red dot it has a black dot.2. The software suite that comes with the Leica is totally different than the Panasonic and is based on Silverfast software.
3. You get a 1 year warranty with the Panasonic and a 3 year warranty with the Leica.
4. You dealer should learn more about the products before he gives you "information."
I guess the Leica's do have a larger memory card and a three year warranty. Probably, just because of it's Leica logo, it will have a greater trade-in value.
But, now I'm wondering, for $1000.00, the new Olympus C-8080 was also awarded one of the best performers at the 2004 DIMA Digital Camera Shoot-Out at the PMA 2004 Convention. I just saw one at a local dealers shop and physically was quite impressive. It also seems like it has more bang for the buck.
