Hi Lee,
That's quite a list. I have only had the pleasure of a few of them. However, I would agree fanatically with your assessment of the 94 Spotteswoode and the 95 Muga Reserva. If you liked the Muga I would recommend Valsacro Rioja as well. If you love the traditional style, the 94 Vina Ardanza should be released soon. Other than that, the stars I have tried lately are:Sauvignon Blanc, Sanford 1999 (Spectator hated it but it is a food pairing dynamo, loads of jalapeno and vegetal notes to combat a mouthfull of fruit. I recently served it with Scallops and Lobster topped with osetra on Cauliflower fondant. Yum!)
Chardonnay, Domaine Drouhin 1999 (this is my new favorite domestic)
Condrieu, Gangloff 1995
Chateauneuf du Pape, Chateau du Beaucastel 1985
Rioja, Roda II Reserva 1996
Bandol, Domaine Tempier, La Tourtine 1996
Cava, Juve y Camps Grand Reserva (1995?)
Champagne, Jacquesson & Fils 1975 R.D.
Champagne, Jacques Selosse Grand Brut NV (another new favorite)
Tell me a bit more about the Pommard and the Isabelle SB!
Follow Ups:
Nice selection SB, amazing what Muga's can pack into a bottle for relatively inexpensive wime. I am also familiar with the '85 Beaucastle, haven't had it in two years, but should be drinking nicely. The isabele is from New Zealand, pretty certain it's from marlborough. Same crisp, no oak, tons of fruit taste that you can get from many other sav blanc from that region. delicious.
The Leroy Pommard, another value play shines if for no other reason than the fact that there is still fruit and plenty of it-great color as well. Not too many other burgundies from that vintage that you would even want to drink anymore. The fact that she gets such low yield per acre results in wines that last forever and drink much much much better with age. That's not to say that I wouldn't prefer the '96 comte de vogue more than the old pommard, rather, I was impressed with how accessible the pommard remained.
