I've been DIY repairs on my 1988 bmw for years, but I cannot locate #@$%$ spark plugs on my wifes Mitsubishi Outlander!!!

not familiar with that model, but many newer vehicles are using COP ignitions (Coil On Plug), so each spark plug has its own coil, no plug wires, cap, rotor, ignition noise on the radio, voltage loss in the plug wires, etc. Great system.
