Digital camera memory usage-vs-resolution used

Sorry if this is a way to basic question. This is my first post on this asylum. My question is simple. Is there a particular conversion table that can be used to determine how many pictures can fit on a given size memory card dependant on the resolution that is used? For example, how many pictures can fit on a 16Meg card if 3.1 megapixel resolution is used? (or 2megapixel, etc..)
