Canon A80 vs. Nikon coolpix 4300 best value for the $$$

Been reading a lot of reviews of digital cameras in this price range; mainly interested in point & shoot right now but later might try advanced features. But of these two which would be the best value considering pix quality, ease of use, fun factor as well as advanced features(manual)? Or would something else be worth checking into. Just now getting my feet wet again in this field and so much has changed(my first /only dig. camera was several yrs ago with a Fuji 1.5 meg. unit and that was high tech back then).
