I don't get all the hate for CVTs. My wife's car has one, it's totally unobtrusive in operation, which is more than I can say for most modern step-gear transmissions, particularly the one used by Honda.
If I had to drive a car with an automatic, I'd rather have a CVT than something with 8-, 9-, or 10-speeds.
If you're worried about the longevity of the transmission, just get the fluid changed twice as often as recommended and make sure the correct fluid is used. CVTs require specific fluid.
That engine has direct injection, so you might want to consider having a catch can installed in the PVC system. I'd do it if it were my car. Beats having to get the intake ports media blasted after 50K miles.
