...everyone rates the 6 wines from their favorite, #1, to the one they like least, #6.

With 11 tasters, if everyone agreed, the #1 wine would have 11 points and the last place wine would have 66 points.

If there are no clear favorites, the numbers bunch up in the middle.

In our champagne tasting there were really three preference groups from looking at the point totals - #5 and #6 (47 and 49 points), #2, #3 and #4 (34, 37 and 39 points) and then #1 (28 pts).

So #1 was a pretty clear favorite and the last two were pretty clearly unpopular.
