i dunno but for $40 bucks you should be able to get a very very good bottle of Haut Medoc or something like that of a reputable year..I live on the other side of the big pond mind you, so prices may be very different from over there but we are talking about 1995 Grand Cru's of rather reputable houses.
i'd say for around 20 US bucks you ought to be able to get a pretty decent bottle ;- ). If not go see your congressman !
Ps.
i a recent (blind) shootout at work ( 4 EURO challenge) a 1,55 !euro ( that is about 1,40usd). bottle came up tops..o.k. it was not spectacular but really enjoyable, i brought a '99 cuvee prestige (Cahors which is sort of the poor man's Bordeaux) which at 4,56 scored quite well on taste but failed to compensate for the price difference ;-).
