Open letter to digital camera makers---
After spending endless hours checking out the current market to update my Canon A40 and Konica 35mm, here's what's discouraging me.
1. Too. Many. Damn. Models. Any major product line could easily be trimmed in half.
2. Too much model turnover; though I'd suspect (or hope) that may be slowing a bit
3. 35mm equivalent does not cut it as a wide angle on your little zoomies. 24-28mm please.
4. I'm not really conversant on ISO speeds, but *most current cameras go to hell at the faster speeds it seems. Either fix that, or get rid of them.
5. Enough already with the endless Scene Modes. 25+ is stupid.
6. Endless menu scrolling with pin-head pushbuttons sucks. Especially in bad light, weather, or around fast action.
7. Canon uses "Tv" for aperature priority. What bonehead came up with this? How about 'AP' and 'SP'?
8. Enough with the cryptic symbols on the buttons.
9. Enough with the insulting microscopic included memory.
10.I read that paper hardcopy instruction manuals are going away. Don't Even Think Of Doing That.
I'm sure after gettings hands-on with the S3, I'll have several more, but I'm looking forward to refreshing on the fundamentals that are the level above point-'n-shoot.
