Not the best shot, but it was fun to take. Shot thru our dining room window as we ate dinner tonight. D1 in manual mode, Nikkor 200mm f/4, Vivitar 285 on manual full power setting (about 12 feet from subject). The one gear tweak in this setup is that I have modded the 285 to run off a sealed lead acid battery. Turns the slow charging 285 into a quick recovery strobe that can take hundreds of shots before needing a recharge (Duoh! I just remembered I have an AC adapter I could have used too). The reflections off the window were a bear, and I had to do a lot of tweaking in Photoshop to get this to look decent. At least this is a starting point from which to learn and refine the technique.

Now if I could just get the male to show up again - he's pretty spectacular.
