OT: light meter for HT use?

Posted by Aroc on April 27, 2004 at 03:58:27:

Hello -

Anyone have a recommendation for a simple light meter for home use? I'd like something roughtly equivalent in price to the Radio Shack SPL meter, which is about $40. Used from ebay or elsewhere is OK. I guess the range I'll be shooting for is 10-40 ft-L with accuracy to 1 ft-L should be sufficient for my needs.

I'd like to measure the luminance off of my front projection screen, 36 direct view CRT, and *maybe* the room's ambient lighting? Or is that a separate meter (luminance vs. illuminance?)

Or perhaps it would be more worthwhile to just rent one for a day? Any insights?
