Sounds like you need to tinker with the idle mixture screw.It is located on the side or bottom of the carb depending on the model. It will be a small brass screw with a spring around the shaft of the screw. proper adjustment is as follows. with engine idling, gently turn screw inward very slowly. If engine runs rougher, turn the screw the other way do this very slowly til the engine runs smooth. Also bear in mind that some two strokes will simply not idle smoothly at very low speeds.
