Down here in Puerto Rico the locals make small wooden boats for fishing in the rough ocean with a flat bottom, they are called "Jolas". They take a sheet of fiber glass tack it over the bottom about half way up the sides all away around and then they pour resin to the fiber glass and let it cure. It makes a good strong water proof bottom for the boat.Eddie
