Spacelad, I doubt that your boat can effectively go faster than it already does. A scanoe is not a planing boat, it is a "displacement" hull, meaning that its top speed is determined by its waterline length. If you put more power on your boat, the bow wave will grow, the stern will sink, and the boat will start to handle very poorly. 4 hp should be just perfect-- as you note yourself, it "works great". If you want to go faster, you need a boat capable of getting up on plane.
