By now you have either purchased it or decided on something else.Yes I have one. I purchased a used 1986 Carver Santa Cruz last year.
260 Merc I/O. Quality of workmanship of Carver boats much better than similar units (Fiberform/Bayliner). I run to the East Bay from dockage in Suisun, CA. Runs best @ about 3100 to 3500 RPM. Takes medium chop well, but you my find front end nose dives in slow running through moderate waves. Docking with single I/O is a learning experience & I am still learning. Comfortable boat for families. Head & bath are excellent in size, berth comfortable for two up front, dinette converts & would sleep pre-teen comfortably.
Hatch entrance seems to be a weak point. On my boat and another I viewed, the hatch entrance on flybridge has been replaced with aftermarket wood covering. Think originally they must have been fiberglass, but get damaged due to persons walking on cover. If you need more information, drop me a e-mail
