Not knowing what body of water your port is in, I can't offer much. Are you in a freshwater lake that maintains a constant level? Are you in a river that rises and falls? Are you in the ocean or the Gulf of Mexico? My only suggestion at this time is that you look at a slipway similar to what you want and ask the owner how it was designed.
