Iwould measure the hole in diameter. then I would go down to my local plumbing parts or home builders mart and get the appropriate size short plastic pipe nipple.about 2 inches long it will be threaded on the inside on one end and the other side will have threads on the outside. get a pipe nut and 2or3 rubber washers.and a screw in plug. Trim the hole to fit with a cheap hole saw or shears to just get the nipple to go thru the hole snugly. Place about 2 washers on each side. screw the nut on and screw the plug in and test for water tightness. It won't be pretty, but it should work. If you need to fix a really ragged hole, welding is about the only real answer. Goodluck, TG.
