Ed,

You don't give a lot of specifics or guidelines about how you're going to use this or what your preferences are, but I do have a couple of suggestions you might look at. Ritz Camera sells a private label version of the older Olympus 3500. It's cosmetically slightly different, but under the hood it's the same camera. The kit is $200 and it's a best buy if you don't mind a slightly larger body. In an era when the trend is to slower and slower lenses, this one is pretty fast. 35-120 mm at f/4.5-8.7. f/4.5 isn't blazing speed, but the 8.7 at 120 mm is better than anything else out there. At 35 mm at the short end, it's usefully wider than the usual 38 mm that everything else has. I measured mine and it's a pretty real 35 mm, unlike some that lie like rugs. Weatherproof, backlighted LCD, a real spot meter (honest), infinity mode, a 4 frame per second burst mode, a good flash with some real range (40' at 35 mm)and dual CR-123A cells for long battery life and snappy responsiveness to the controls. The metering is multi-segment and is through-the-finder. So it sees what your eye sees--with no parallax! Diopter adjust on the finder. Good lens, too. About 12 oz with batteries. I've taken hundreds of rolls of film with mine and it's still in good shape. A great camera for vacations. At $200, you can't beat this. Kit comes with remote and case. If that doesn't suit you, look at the Olympus Stylus Zoom 115 (if you can find one-the Stylus Epic 115 is the current model) or the Canon Sure Shot 105 zoom. The Canon 105 has been replaced by the 105s which is not as desireable. The original 105 had the best control logic ever! Good lens, too. Try Walmart.

If those don't float your boat, let me know more about your preferences and useage and I'll try to help.

Hope this helps.
