A photographer's haven for the lastest in digital or traditional film cameras.

yesterday's flower pic on Outside Asylum...I took time to see

66.19.186.142

what my image software (photoshop 6) could do here.

First, I reduced the dpi from 1x2 inch at 300 dpi resolution, to 5x7 inch at 96 dpi. 300 is used for printing enlargements on paper i.e. Epson 1280 or to an outside lab. This 72 - 96 dpi
also loads faster on the net.It is the highest resolution on most monitors anyway.

Second, I cropped out extraneous negative space.

Third, I cloned out the superfluous elements that detracted from that georgeous full flower.

and last color adjusted to pop that red out from the background, by subduing those green stalks and extra petals.Caused by straight on flash.

Just some things that can be done to hone an image for greater impact in a photo contest. In which would be very difficult to do with film & chemistry.

Get to know and love PHOTOSHOP........
