First of all I am NOT the person who used the rangefinder 35 mm camera as the tool of VOLUNTARY chose. Sometime doing journalistic work I used them with 24mm as “a low visibility and vow noise cameras†to “shoot from bellyâ€. I feel that in many instances the photographers’ selection of the specific model of Contax/ Leica was dictated by the photographer’s personal paranoia then the specific technical demands. Pretty much the stunning optics and leaf shutter sets this class of cameras far apart form anything else and therefore they allow themselves to be way behind the “normal†set of demands exposed to cameras. Perhaps I am wrong but I really can’t see a photographer who would be able to say the s/he prefer M-6 to M-5 because it has a credible technical justifications. However, I have to admit that Contax always was more progressive, modern and more “smart†then Leica. I always loved the way they think.The Cat
