Anyone know how the manual focus on the contax T3 works?

Thinking of upgrading my point and shoot. Is the manual focus a parallax of two images so you can see if what you want is in focus, or is it just a readout that shows the distance in meters? Have trouble shooting through display cases at museums and would like to actually see what I am focusing on but don't want to carry a bulky rangefinder or SLR. Is the new Contax the answer?
