The features of this camera are a built in motor drive (winder really) and TTL flash. Metering is also a little different that traditional Nikon. It has a higher % concentration in the 12 mm circle on the viewscreen which is more selective than other center-weighted Nikons. Probably a good thing.

The camera also lacks a lot of stuff, like a depth of field preview lever.

Also to take advantage of the program mode you have to use AIS lenses from the manual focus line, or use AF lenses (in manual focus, of course)

Just about all Nikon TTL flash will work on the N2000 as will most Nikon dedicated third party lenses, like Sunpak.

All in all, not a bad camera. The N2000 uses 4 AAA batteries which have somewhat limited life with the motor drive. THere is an optional AA battery holder which has much better battery life. Sometimes you can find a camera with the optional holder already on it. It makes the camera about 1/4" taller is all.

But if it were me, I'd look for a clean FE-2. THe FE-2 has an automatic exposure mode, a superior manual mode, depth of field preview, 1/250 sec flash sync, 1/4000 sec max shutter speed, and can use any of the AI or AIS manual focus lenses, as well as AF. It too has TTL flash, which I could not live without.
