When I bought the FA in 1984, the features and metering system were cutting edge: it was Nikons flagship 'intelligent camera' back in the day. However since then, those features have long since been incorporated and much improved upon (I'm sure) in further Nikon bodies across the board.I only use my camera as an amatuer and honestly, mainly for occassional snapshots.
How much do these bodies sell for, and where are the best places to sell/trade? I guess you dont get much for trade-ins(?).
Ive held onto this camera because I felt it was a classic (for several years the body was worth more than I bought it for), but it seems the value has leveled out to about $250-$320 on ebay, sometimes less.
I could really go for an easy to use AF Nikon body with the advanced bells and whistles that come standard on bodies these days. Im sure any of the low to medium priced bodies excell in every regard(?) compared to what Im using (eccept maybe in 'classic metal bodied Nikon' factor).
So what models do you guys I recommend, and should I keep or sell my 50mm F1.4 and SB-16B?
Digital is also a very attractive format to me if it is of suffiecintly good image quality within my "tit for tat" budget, as I am just a casual photographer nowadays. (pictures of girlfriends, family, objects, vacation photos, etc), I dont need anything too advanced as far as flagship technology (heck, EVERTHING is hyper advanced compared to what Im using now)
