Furthermore, by the time Pontiac and Oldsmobile were put out of their misery, the cars were just badge engineered Chevrolet. In 1966, however, before Roger Smith, the real villain of the piece, GM's divisions shared bodies but not much more. You bought a Pontiac, it had a Pontiac engine.
