The very first thing I do when I or the wife receives a new iPhone or iPad is to put a tempered glass screen protector on it. I dropped my iPhone 14 Pro on the river rock in our backyard once and cracked the screen, or so I thought. As it turned out the crack was in the tempered glass screen protector, not the actual phone glass. Just peel off the cracked screen protector and install a new one.
The better ones wipe clean real easy but some seem to collect smudges that are hard to remove. I've had excellent results with Spigen brand available on Amazon.
