Double A's ,they're everywhere.For the less well healed G.W Bush economy wage earner,.there is the Nikon 5700.Loks alot like a Fuji model.Changing lenes opens up the D100 cameras to dust,in the fully sealed Nikon 5700 with the longest Zoom range of any Digi,that is not a problem.

I owned several Coolpix models in the past, the 950, 995, and the 5700. The 5700 is a great camera and I had very good results with it. In the prosumer style cameras it is among the best choices.The big advantage to the DSLR models, if you discount the interchangable lenses, is the increased sensor size and corresponding dynamic range. As good as the 5700 and similar models are, they really can't compete in difficult situations. For typical usage though, they are capable of amazing performance!
