I finally purchased a digital camera.
It is a Cannon Power Shot A-20 with 2.1 Meg pixels capability for $250.
The color accuracy is very good and does not seem to need an UV filter.
Action shots while using the Auto mode seem to be cumbersome because there is a delay for meter and focus. Manual mode is little better.
The A-20 doses have a unique feature for making panoramic photos.
You take a shot and it displays an edge of the last pic so you can line up the next shot.
The second shot is an extension of the first. You can then print out a really nice panoramic pic.
I highly recommend a tripod for this.

This camera is an over glorified “point and shoot” and should not be considered as a replacement to a good quality 35mm or medium format camera.
While the A-20 is not a giant leap forward by any means it is well built and a convenient way to take snap shots for the web or to print out. I use it while on bike rides to take pics of the scenery.
For $250 it was a good deal, if it were any more and I would have turned it down.

I saw a Cannon A-40 for $300 but there is not much difference other than zoom capability.

One last thing, this camera is a battery munching pig, even if you turn off the LCD display! Save your money and get some rechargeable batteries.
