This was taken in morning light, on the last day of February '07, from my upstairs balcony. It is a strongly back-lit photo. I think I should have had the presence of mind to use some flash-fill. Method was hand held. Or...had I used my tripod and took several bracketing shots I might have been able to make use of CS-2's HDR capabilities. Can anyone tweak this photo in PS without disturbing the deep saturated morning sky in the background?
I'm tempted to think this is a shot that "should have been" but simply misses the mark by being under-exposed in the fore-ground. However I thought it might be interesting to see if anyone here can help it out with their photoshop skills. Feel free to tweak.

try to isolate that from any other adjustments you do , because that is really the essence of this photo. The suggested options by the posts while trying to help mostly destroy your beautifuly captured sky. Just my opinion though.
and for just a sparkle Lens Flare
The extra lens flare down at the lower right corner, good 'ol Photoshop render effects come to the rescue again. And some additional "lens effects" (what are those?) in the upper left corner. It is a more visually interesting photo that you have tweaked for me.For my part, I got to thinking about it for a bit and then considered something simple. I cropped out the dark parts to get the image seen below.
I really should just abandon this image. I guess I'm just disappointed to the point where it is difficult to toss it into the trash where it belongs. But I thought it might make an interesting exercise over here in the asylum.

but you wanted that blue sky. And i didn't want to change anything . Wish those rooftops were removed as well. Thanks for the exercise.
Yes a little more participation would be fun.Other photog forums:
Nikonians: Too much like a company picnic for me.
Photo Net: I'm intimidated. The quality level there is outstanding. When I was into Pentax gear I frequented a Pentax email list. This was around 1999 or so. It was mostly fun except for certain outspoken posters who did not want anyone to post photos to the list because it bogged down their TRS-80 micro computers. (no joke) They just wanted to write text about their black and white photography without publishing any actual photos.
At the time I was scanning my 35mm slides and negs and posting photos to a website that I had at the time. So ultimately that list did not work for me.
