I find it almost impossible to take photographs of other people, even family. I feel as uncomfortable pointing a lens at others as i do when someone points one at me. I love exploring myself with the camera though (vanity?).By the way i really like your choice of sepia treatment, i find sepia is used to falsely give a sense of age to a photo and i abhore that. It works very well indeed with your subject above.

I've also taken a lot of self portrait shots... especially when hiking. I think that besides vanity it's because I really want to take pictures of people and I'm just more comfortable having that person be me.There are some excellent self portrait galleries at pbase.com This woman does all self portraits...

I really want to make an effort to take more pictures of people. My main discomfort comes from taking them of strangers as I don't really like the idea of sneaking pictures of people... or asking them.
About the sepia, thanks, now that some time has passed I think it works too. It was suggested by someone at dpreview that I try greatly lowering the saturation and trying different single color tones as an alternative to the sepia but I haven't messed with that yet.
