Good advice, with today's pocket digi's into the 7-8 mega pixel range- Like Casio Z750. They can match DSLR in quality. You could salvage a shot such as this one by cropping- perhaps, just one example i did here. No need to show the rust stains around the pool tank.
BTW i now save my photos to- png, a lossless scheme, ideal for the internet. Better than .jpg
Follow Ups:
It has an almost surreal feel as if the bloke was saluting the dolphins realising they were the future rulers of the planet. A b+w version would be even better in that regard in a sort of post nuclear Japanese way. Erm...
Whereas John EH falls in love with his image and doesn't do enough croping to bring out the best view.Knowing how to crop is the single best way to share a photo with other viewers.
as I was in the audience and about a mile away it seemed. The SD 400 didn't have much reach so I did the crop and picked up quite a bit of noise which I smoothed out with Noise Ninja. Thanks for the tip on png. I'll mess around with it and give it a shot.

With the cropping it looks like the guy is waving to them as they fly by!
