You can't go wrong with any of the Cannons, just pick your budget limits. Your daughter should try putting them in her hand and pick the one she feels most comfortable with.

Thanks, she's picking up one of the A400s today. Since she probably wouldn't use any of the extra manual controls on the other models, such as the A75, this one should work out fine.
She got the camera, plus extra memory, but still needs to get a AA battery/charger steup. Any suggestions?
I didn't know that AA batteries are rechargable. I thought that they were used in some digital cameras because the were cheap and disposable. The Olympus's that I use have chargeable lithium-ion batteries and a charger comes with the camera kit. These batteries are expensive and you always need a charged spare if you do much photo work in the field.
Here is what the Rat Shack offers, along with quite a few different chargers to match. I guess when one is in Disneyland and all the Ni-Cads are used up, in a pinch you can hit the concession stand for some throw-aways.
