I have a Leica III, S.N. 474309. Looks very close to pics I've seen of IIIf's, but with a couple of minor differences--I think it might be a IIIc? Mine has chrome finish. Also seeking info on the lens: It is marked Summitar f=5cm 1:2 S.N. 734815 (& Ernst Leitz-Wetzlar). I have some pics of the camera also.Am also seeking an affordable, available book on Leica III's--including basic operation. Thanks in advance for any advice!
Follow Ups:
According to the serial number, it would appear that you have a Leica IIIc made in 1949. Check the web link below for sources for Leica manuals. Some have been scanned and are on the web. There is an on-line version for the IIIf. It is close enough to the IIIc regarding basic operation and should be informative. Remember, the hardest part is loading the camera with film. That requires some practice. You can find loading instructions at:

Have fun with it.
