I'm not much of a photographer, just family stuff, and most all of that is done by my wife. She wants a digital camera. After doing a little browsing the Kodak DX 6440 looks good to me. Primarily because it will take either standard batteries or recharageable batteries and can be purchased with a charging stand/computer conduit. The fact that my wife can use it and return it to its charging stand is a big plus for me.
Anyway, it appears that SD cards run $30-$50 for 32 meg to 256 meg. So there is little price differential for 32 to 256 meg.
Are there any other factors, other than price, that I should be considering in an SD card? Can you get a card that is too big or too small?
Follow Ups:
I haven't yet joined Darth Vader and the Empire on the Dark Side as yet - still a film person. BUT I have won a cheap Konica Minolta Dimage X31 (which I have't yet received). It too uses SD memory - but with the SD memory being so cheap now, I reckon I can afford to spring for 1 GB of memory (under A$100 on eBay in Oz). As was in the 80's 'Greed is Good' and you cannot have too much memory. With the larger memory too you don't have to worry about shooting on anything less than the highest resolution.
Joe's pretty close. I had a DX-6440 and the average size was about 1.1 MB per shot. I'd recommend at least a 128 MB card, but I'd also strongly suggest having two or more cards, just in case. You never know whan one will fail. I find that in digital I tend to shoot more pictures than I did with film. If you don't keep them, there is no cost, so you are not inhibited to be careful.I liked the camera for a P&S. Be sure you have the latest firmware from Kodak. They have a good web site and downloads are not too difficult to do. The camera dock/charger is nice. Since I mostly do 4" x 6" prints, I kept mine set to the 3:2 size ratio.
than a roll each week or month, or year fine.
