“Look, there’s my car,” I say, pointing at my Mercedes in the parking lot.
“Where?” a fellow desert traveler asks.
“There, that Mercedes,” I say.
He looks at me, questioning. “You want to drive that through the Sahara?”
JEROEN VAN BERGEIJK is a journalist based in Amsterdam. He decided to buy used Mercedes 190D and to resale it, for profit, to the highest bidder in one of the poorest sub-Saharan countries, and by - driving there!
Not bad work. The writer mostly stays away from super-exposure of his views. However he brings interesting Historical events, as needed, associated with the place he is visiting at the moment.
