Mics and lenses...

OK, has anyone else noticed the similarities between mics and lenses? In particular I'm talking about "perspective". Wide field mics and lenses make the background recede away from you and whatever space there is in a room is exaggerated. A shotgun mic or telephoto lens seems to compress space considerably while eliminating things off to either side. I haven't done much recording, but I couldn't help but use similar photo techniques for mic selection and coverage. This leads to some other interesting comparisons... Do mics have "bokeh"?
